Experienced Bio/Life Science Patent Attorney for AWA’s Office in Copenhagen

They offer tailored solutions to their clients across a wide range of industries, including the Bio/Life Science, pharmaceutical, telecom, automotive and mechanical segments.

Actief Hartmanns assists AWA Denmark in recruiting an experienced Patent Attorney to their team within Pharma and Bio/Life Science which is considered a focus area due to the rapid growth of this industry sector in Denmark and southern Sweden.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic advice and other patent advisory services to clients and actively contributing to building AWA's portfolio within this segment.

Your Responsibilities include

  • Strategically you will aim for achieving a good understanding of your clients businesses and actively assist your clients identify new IP possibilities. Further, you will be expected to provide strategic advice on how to match business development with securing IP rights.
  • To secure IP rights for your clients your role will often be to assess patentability of new inventions, to make recommendations for patenting, and eventually to draft and prosecute patent applications.
  • To ensure your clients have freedom to operate in their desired markets you will be engaged in conducting patent searches and monitoring existing patents to identify potential infringements or licensing opportunities.
  • Finally, you will eventually be expected to offer advice and assistance regarding licensing, IP due diligence, patent enforcement and disputes including opposition proceedings before the EPO and UPC.

Your Background

  • You have a Ph.D. or master’s degree in molecular/cellular biology, human biology, or related fields, preferably combined with an EQE or a desire to pursue an EQE.
  • You have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience working with IP related matters such as drafting and prosecuting patent applications, either in-house or in private practice.
  • You have a good understanding of the Bio/Life Science industry sector, including its special regulatory challenges and milestones. 
  • On the personality level you have good analytical skills and a well-developed curiosity as to how things work, interact, and can be applied effectively. You also have good communication skills which allow you to quickly bring people on board and make them see your point.
