Come across as fair and, as far as possible, fearless.<\/li>\n<li>Remember that the person being laid off often needs time to take in and accept his or her new situation.<\/li>\n<li>Be prepared for a variety of reactions from individuals being laid off. Some people do not react until later, when they have seriously taken in the dismissal.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure that as a manager you are visible and present in the department\/organisation, so the other employees feel a certain connection to you.<\/li>\n<li>Be professional and keep your own personal situation to yourself. This is expected of you.<\/li>\n<li>Be careful what you say and do.
